About Us
From Italy to the world, SilkByNature protects and reimagines the culture of silk — a legacy where craftsmanship meets innovation and sustainability.
The Silk worldwide
Across the world, numerous silk districts can be found throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas — each with its own cultural and production identity.
For each of them, we have highlighted the main points of interest: from historic sites where silk is still crafted, to dedicated museums, and to places where the different stages of the supply chain are preserved and passed on — from sericulture to digital printing. A journey through tradition, innovation, and beauty.

What is
SilkByNature
SilkByNature was born from a passion for silk and from the desire to preserve its millennia-old history, artisanal expertise, and traditional production methods. It is an institutional initiative, created to celebrate the extraordinary qualities of a noble, natural, and sustainable fibre — a true symbol of excellence and culture.
It is not simply a brand, but a collective, institutional, and non-profit project that brings together public and private entities with a shared purpose: to promote, protect, and revive the culture of silk in Italy and around the world.
At the heart of SilkByNature is a diverse and synergic network made up of public and private institutions, fashion and textile companies, research centres, universities, cultural foundations, and professionals. Together, we operate on both national and international levels to foster research, development, innovation, and outreach activities — with the aim of rediscovering and sharing the authentic value of silk as a shared heritage.
We believe that silk is more than just a material — it is a cultural asset to be safeguarded, a living legacy to be passed on and shared: an ancient fibre that still has much to tell in the contemporary world.
